About
The World Future Council "is convinced that good political solutions already exist for most of the essential challenges to humanity. Our task is to identify these policy solutions and spread them where they are needed - quickly, efficiently and without carrying the bureaucratic burden of the international community of states." [1]
Vision
By 2020 the World Future Council aims to:[2]
- approache political decision-makers and institutions and supports them in introducing future-just policies
- promote the banning of policies that are not future-just
- consult by political decision-makers when developing new political frameworks
- review existing and scheduled laws and examines them with regard to sustainability and future justice criteria, mandated by decision-makers and institutions
Future Policy Award
Video about first Future Policy Award in 2009 given to the food security programme of the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil. This policy ensures the Right to Food for everyone with the result of a decrease of the child mortality rate by 60% and male nourishment by 75% since the start of the programme in 1993.
