Annually, the Worldbank complies 109 structural and qualitative variables for 146 countries to measure their performance on four Knowledge Economy pillars: Economic Incentive and Institutional Regime, Education, Innovation, and Information and Communications Technologies. The Knowledge Economy Index (KEI) has been calculated on an annual basis from 1995 on.
