Finland's national strategy for sustainable development
The National Strategy for Sustainable development "Towards sustainable choices. A nationally and globally sustainable Finland" was adopted in June 2006 by the Finnish National Commission on Sustainable Development and adopted in December 2010 by the Council of State. The starting point of the strategy was to combine the sustainable use, management and protection of natural capital with citizens' well-being as well as to ensure the integrity of the society so that the result would be a competent Finland that utilizes its strengths in a sustainable manner.
Measurement of Well-being
The project “New dimensions for the measurement of well-being” examines the possibility of formulating a comprehensive well-being matrix which includes indicators reflecting people’s personal well-being and the state of the environment. In addition, the project aims to put forward proposals for integrating more comprehensive perspectives on well-being into public discussion and political decision-making. The project is carried out under the responsibility of the policy analysis unit at the Prime Minister’s Office.
