Headings organize your writing into sections.

New articles are preformatted with the following Headings:

These are suggested headings.  For the main title (Title 1), this is generally used for "Background". "History", or "Overview".

(Title 2) is an example of Heading Size 3, which is generally used for sub-sections.

The See also section is generally after the body of the article and is a place to link to other pertinent articles within Wikigender.org.

References allow for footnotes and full bibliographical references to be linked to inline citations.  Please see our referencing page for details.

External links is a section for links to other website on the topic of the article.

How to Link

Thre are two main types of links in wikiarticles

To create an internal link in wikitext simply surround the article name with two brackets on each side. Make sure to use the underscore symbol ( _ ) in place of spaces (see below)

To create an external link in wikitext, see format below.

Alternatively, if you are not in wikitext you can simply hyperlink using the hyperlink logo Hyperlink.JPG  on the tool bar.

Please use both internal and external links throughout the content of your article.

Images

To add an image to an article you must first upload it to wikiprogress. Click Upload file to the left of your screen, under the heading "toolbox". See a list of prefered and prohibited files. Upload your file here then return to your article. Click on the add image iconRTENOTITLE and type in the name of the file.

How do I add a click-thru image?

To add a click through image, first find the name of the image. Next, edit your page in Wikitext and enter the information regarding the image and the link in the following format:

placement of image (left, right, or center)|size (in px)|link=url for external, or page name for internal|placement within frame

Example:

Click-thru.JPG

Creates:

Gpi.png

References and Citations

Cite sources when:

Citing sources:

When you need to reference, insert Referencessymbol.JPG after the phrase you need to reference.[2] A box (see below) called Reference Properties will appear and you should enter the full reference here.

It is generally accepted to use APA or MLA citation format.  There are forms for creating these online:www.lib.ncsu.edu/citationbuilder/, or, in order to save your own list of references, use Microsoft Word source builder.

At the end of the country pages article (after See Also and/or External Links section[s]), create a h

eading (Heading Size 2) called "References" and insert the References.JPG from the tool bar.

To insert multiple references to the same source, use the "Reference Name (optional)" box after inserting the full reference above for the first time.[3] The second occasion you wish to cite the same source, simply type the Reference Name shortcut in the Reference Name box and click okay. See the footnote below.[3]

See Child Marriage for a good example of multiple references.

A reference list (see below) will appear once you have saved the article. Referencing your article is very important.  If you have any questions, do not hestitate to contact info@wikiprogress.org.
