World Forum, 2012 edition

The IFCW World Forum is to be held from 26th to 29th November 2012 in Naples and is organized by IFCW and Mentoring Italia NPO (host) in cooperation with Fondazione L’Albero della Vita (co-host). The WorldForum is supported by the Region Campania, department for Social Policies. The title for the 2012 forum is: "Family, children and education at the core of the new challenges of social development: global scenarios, migration and active citizenship ".

During the forum, diverse aspects and perspectives on Migration will be highlighted, particularly the ones caused by great changes in the political structures of less stable countries (for instance the so-called “Arab spring”), by wars in the African and Asian continents, as well as by dictatorships, civil wars and ethnic conflicts. All critical situations hindering the enjoyment of the most basic human rights, making a future of dignity and development more difficult to create.

Furthermore, according to the United Nations, it is supposed to be an estimate of fifty million of so-called “environmental refugees” by the year 2020, an issue aggravated by the climate change as seriously impacting on many societies. Migration will be analyzed from different perspectives - mobility in the labour market, political asylum, citizenship rights, transnational families, unaccompanied minors up to new aspects of migration. Children and their families involved in the migration process will be the main focus of the World Forum 2012, which aims at paying special attention to: child protection in contexts of migration; psyco-pedagogical support to vulnerable families and children; different family patterns in migration and transnational families; new challenges for education for development and intercultural education; central role of children participation and active citizenship.
