Biography

Dr Christian Kroll's research focuses on happiness, social capital and quality of life. One strand of publications investigates the current debate around measuring progress and well-being beyond Gross Domestic Product and lessons to be learnt for public policy. He is also consulting to various stakeholders on these issues (e.g. political parties, statistical offices, government, foundations, civil society). Dr Kroll gained his PhD at the London School of Economics with a thesis entitled: "Towards a Sociology of Happiness". He was a Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government in Prof. Robert Putnam's research group, and he previously worked at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Madagascar, as well as for an MP in the budget committee of the German Parliament.
