Child well-being and economic development

About
Most research on child well-being has been centered on developed countries where data on objective, and even subjective Social indicators of Well-being is more readily available. In developing countries, household income or consumption surveys are often the only data sources on child well-being. For these reasons and a different financial resources for surveys, the methodological challenges in developed and developing countries are quite dissimilar.
Relevance of rich countries' child well-being research for countries in development
Certainly, child well-being research in developed countries is to a large extent informative for developing countries too. However, the design of child-focused and targeted policy interventions in developing countries requires specific research on how child well-being can be increased even under budget constraints and generally lower standards of living.
