The dimension of educational well-being must be included in analysis because the education system commonly represents where a large proportion of an individuals childhood is spent and because their future well-being is likely to depend on educational achievements.
The second of the Millennium Development Goals is to achieve universal primary education for both girls and boys by 2015.

- Percentage aged 15-19 remaining in education
- The Transition to employment
- Percentage aged 15-19 not in education, training or employment
- Percentage of 15 year-olds expecting to find low-skilled work
