Geography
Angola is situated in Southern Africa on the South Atlantic Ocean, with Namibia and Democratic Republic of the Congo as neighbor. It has borders with Congo (Kinshasa) for 2511km, Congo (Brazzaville) for 201km, Namibia for 1376km and Zambia for 1110km.[1]

The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for Angola is 0.452. The MPI is an international measure of acute poverty covering 109 countries. The MPI reflects the multiple deprivations that poor people face at the same time in three dimensions: health, education and living standards. The MPI reflects both the incidence or headcount ratio (H) of poverty – the proportion of the population that is multidimensionally poor – and the average intensity (A) of their poverty – the average proportion of indicators in which poor people are deprived. The HDI represents a push for a broader definition of well-being and provides a composite measure of three basic dimensions of human development: health, education and income. According to the United Nations Development Programme, Angola was ranked 148th out of 187 countries in the world in the Human Development Index which is a composite index measuring average achievement in three basic dimensions of human development- a long healthy life, knowledge, and a decent standard of living. The HDI of Subsaharan Africa as a region is at 0.463 in 2011, which places Angola above the regional average.[2] With an HDI of 0.482 in 2011, Angola's score is broken down as follows:
